Transportation & Court Security

Transport Officer
In 2008, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department added a full-time transport officer to its staff. This was a great help in keeping our patrolman on the road patrolling and our jail officers working in our jail.

Our transport officer transports inmates to and from court, other Indiana counties, and even other states. He logs about 50,000 miles per year and transports over 1,700 inmates per year.

Court Security
In 2009, two court security officers were added. These two officers work for the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, but are assigned to one of the three courts in Jackson County. They provide security for Jackson County employees and citizens who are visiting the courthouse. They also provide information on county offices to the public as well as help transport inmates to and from court from the jail.
