Incarceration Information

Inmate Property
When reporting to jail, inmates are allowed to bring the following:
  • Dentures
  • Eyeglasses
  • Hearing aids
  • Money
  • Prescriptions
  • Soft-cover Bible

Essential items such as clothing, deodorant, soap, shampoo, toothbrush, and toothpaste will be provided. Optional items will be available for purchase through the commissary. If you bring items in that are not allowed, they will be put in your property storage for when you get out.

Good Behavior
All inmates enter the facility as a class one offender. This means that you receive one day of credit for every day you are incarcerated, unless you break rules or commit crimes while in jail. You can be reclassified and lose good time if rules are not followed. Your best bet to get out as early as possible is to follow the rules and respect the staff.

Telephone Access
Inmates have access to a telephone from 7:00 am to 11:00 pm daily, unless inmate or facility is on lockdown. The Jackson County Jail is contracted with Securus Technology to provide phone services for the inmates. Phone cards are available for the inmate to purchase through the commissary. Inmates may also call family and friends collect. For questions or to set up an account, contact Correctional Billing Services at (800) 844-6591.
