What are the zoning districts?

Kinds of districts; establishment. The county is divided into the following kinds of districts.

(AG) Agriculture District-:Established to include areas that are substantially tillable or used for a variety of agricultural operations. This district is located where little or no urbanization has occurred or is likely to occur in the near future, in accordance with the Jackson County Comprehensive Plan.

(FR) Forest Recreation Districts: Established to include areas that are substantially rough wooded terrain and there is extensive public ownership where little or no urbanization has occurred, or is likely to occur in the near future, in accordance with the Jackson County Comprehensive Plan.

(R1) Residential 1: Established to include areas of low density, single family residences and rural subdivisions. The intent of this district is to create aesthetically pleasing residential environments outside municipal services.

(R-2) Residential District: Established to include areas of relatively moderate density, with single, and multiple family residences in locations where the infrastructure is capable of supporting higher density development or higher density development has previously occurred. The intent of this district is to allow for a more compact form of development near and in established communities.

(LR) Lake Residence District: Established to include residential neighborhoods and subdivisions in the proximity of bodies of water. These areas are characterized by environmental sensitivity and are subject to heavy recreational use. Some Lake Residential communities may have their own required setbacks and building requirements.

(GB) General Business District: Established to include areas that are appropriate for a full range of businesses and services, and should be located near highways, interstate systems, and within small municipalities.

(I) Industrial District: Established to include existing facilities and areas that are best suited for future industrial use due to accessibility and location.
